Ahren Young

What is your job title, and what does that position entail?

I am a Robotic Sales Specialist. I focus mainly on robotic business development for Washington, Idaho, and BC. I handle the entire sales process, from initial meeting to proof of concept and final sale.

How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from? A little history of how you got involved with Olympus?

I’ve been at Olympus since July 2017 and this is my first job out of school. I interned here the summer before my senior year of college.

What do you like best about working at Olympus?

I enjoy the variety of different things I get to work on. The applications and tools used to solve those applications are so wide ranging and that keeps things interesting. We also have a great work environment that allows you to learn a lot and do your best work.

Describe a little of your past history.

I grew up in Renton, WA and played a lot of golf growing up as a kid. I attended Seattle University and studied computer science.

Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?

I like to play golf outside of work, with my friends, my dad, or anyone really. I also really enjoy doing yard work, which may seem weird to most people.

What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?

One key lesson I’ve learned working at Olympus is that it’s important to have a good mentor. I’m very fortunate to work with great people that I can learn from every day, and that are willing to share their knowledge and experience. That has made my job easier and much more enjoyable.
