What is your job title, and what does that position entail?
I am the shipping & receiving coordinator at Olympus. I package all built material, prep it for shipment, manage all outgoing shipments, and process all incoming packages as well. The position keeps me very active, darting back and forth between the warehouse and office! However, I will soon be training for the CAR position which I am very excited about! I’m looking forward to closely working with customers again and a small group of gals I’ve grown to respect and admire.
How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from? A little history of how you got involved with Olympus?
I was looking for a new, fresh opportunity that would give me room to grow my knowledge and skills and came across an ad Olympus posted for hire and here I am! I’ve been at Olympus since March 2018 and I am loving every minute of it! Before finding Olympus, I was a customer service rep for a small metalizing company in Tigard and I did some of their shipping & receiving as well.
What do you like best about working at Olympus?
My favorite thing about working at Olympus is the culture. Management has done an outstanding job creating a company that is a community of kind, brilliant, innovative, fun, and goal driven people. Oh & did I mention we’re really dog friendly around here? What’s not to love about coming to work with a team of people that you can call your friends, and cute doggos?
Describe a little of your past history.
I’ve worked in customer service positions for as long as I can remember!
Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?
When I’m not (thoroughly enjoying) being a homebody glued to the couch and a book or good movie, Filip and I enjoy a trip to the beach any weekend we don’t have plans. We’ve also never missed a local motorcycle show or classic car show. I can spend HOURS at those things looking at every detail on all the machines. *heart eyes* I also enjoy a good track day (motorcycles or cars) and hanging out with my brother and his family.
What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?
A few lessons I’ve learned from my career thus far is to never fear asking questions (there is always so much to learn!) and responsibility. You and only you are responsible for your actions and following through on work assignments. If all is well, that’s great! If at times you feel overwhelmed with disappointment or fury, that’s a good indication that it may be time to re-evaluate your process and re-direct yourself towards a path of further success.
What is one thing you customers might find surprising about you?
A surprising thing about me is my photographic memory. I may not remember a name at times, but I never forget a face. I can also memorize/remember from memory other things that are useful to the job like an incoming part or box it arrived in. Things that are not useful to the job that I memorize are car makes and their color and license plate number, numbers in general (house numbers, debit/credit card numbers), things on a menu of a newfound favorite restaurant, something I wore the week before so I don’t repeat an outfit, mileage before an oil change, & whatever else creeps into my mind or that I find interesting.
