Daniel Jones

What is your job title, and what does that position entail?

I am the Robotic Sales Specialist for our office in Fremont, California.

I handle robotic demonstrations, proof of concepts, quotation, and after sale support.

How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from? A little history of how you got involved with Olympus?

I moved to California from Missouri six months ago to sell robots in Silicon Valley.

In early 2017 I found Olympus Controls while researching for a Universal Robot distributor to potentially join in California. I’ve been at Olympus since March 2018.

What do you like best about working at Olympus?

The team atmosphere providing solutions to the top companies in the world and fun activities like rafting, deep sea fishing, etc. Lots of friendly jokes and laughter.

Describe a little of your past history.

I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2013 and immediately joined the manufactured sales industry.  I transitioned to robotic sales in 2015. I started focusing on Universal Robot distribution in 2017.

Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?

I have gone skydiving three times and plan to get my A License soon.

I have a blue belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. I enjoy competing and working towards a black belt.

Going cage diving outside of San Francisco to get close to great white sharks is on my to-do list.

What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?

The automation industry is a team effort. No one knows everything.

What is one thing your customers might find surprising about you?

I graduated High School with 75 other people and was part of a Varsity football team that set a Missouri record by obtaining a winning streak of 70 regular season games in a row.
