What is your job title, and what does that position entail?
My job title is HR Admin. This position runs across the board with what I do. To name a few things… I help with new employee on-boarding, running reports, and ordering Olympus merchandise.
How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from?
I have been at Olympus since October 2014. Before here I was a server at an independent retirement home, which requires a lot of patience. It was very rewarding to be a part of so many people’s lives and their family’s lives too.
Can you tell us a little about your background and how it helps you in this position?
When I first started at Olympus Controls I was the receptionist and after about a year and half I was transferred to the Client Account Rep. department. The responsibilities I had in both roles really prepared me for the HR Admin. position. I really enjoy helping everyone in the company.
What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?
I think being independent and responsible for yourself are a couple key lessons I have taken thus far in my career. While Olympus is a team and anyone is willing to answer your questions or help you out if needed there are also a lot of times where you are working on your own tasks and goals for the day and you are responsible for following through with each task and goal. Also, always take the opportunity to learn something new, it never hurts right?
What do you like best about working at Olympus?
I feel like everyone says this, but the people! My coworkers are my friends. We enjoy doing activities outside work and everyone gets along which I feel is not always normal in most work places.
What was your first job ever?
My first job ever was at Little Caesars. I was only there for a short amount of time but it was fun working with high school buddies. I like to claim that because I worked there I am the best person to cut pizzas, but in reality I am probably the last person you want to cut your pizzas, I was so bad at it!
Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy gardening, baking, and taking naps… napping is a hobby right? I also enjoy spending time with my husband and our dogs. He pushes me to get outside to enjoy all that is beautiful about Oregon… I might gripe at the time but I am always thankful in the end.
What is one thing your customers might find surprising about you?
I am “double jointed” in my shoulder and can wrap my arm around my head and touch my earlobe.
