Ross Goluba

Regional Sales Manager

Fremont, CA

What is your job title, and what does that position entail?

My job title is VP of Business Development and California Division Manager. I work with strategic accounts and manage both our Fremont office and San Diego office locations.

How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from? A little history of how you got involved with Olympus?

It was April of 2012 when I joined Olympus to startup the California Division. Prior to Olympus I worked for 10 years at Kollmorgen in a variety of technical and sales roles. Earlier in my career I was an engineer at an electro-mechanical linear actuator and stage manufacturer, IDC.  My first job out of college was at a motion control distributor in the Pacific NW.

What do you like best about working at Olympus?

The people and culture of Olympus makes it a very enjoyable company to work at every day.

Describe a little of your past history.

I got started in the motion control industry after speaking with a friend’s father who worked at Parker Compumotor when I graduated from Purdue. I was looking for a mechanical engineering job on the West Coast. I initially moved to Seattle, but after a couple years decided to make it back to Northern California. I lived in downtown Sonoma for a few years before the Silicon Valley pulled me in and have since settled in the East Bay.

Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy the great outdoors and exploring the West Coast with my daughters. I like to tinker with anything that has an internal combustion engine.

What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?

Even though the only constant is change the future depends on what you do today.

What is one thing your customers might find surprising about you?

I am a Bay Area native and was born and raised in the East Bay.
