Ross Goluba
Fremont

What does that position entail?
The position involves working closely with local clients to help them design the optimal solution for their motion control and machine automation needs. Also, I work with our leading manufacturers to make sure our Bay Area division can provide the best in class systems tailored for the local market.

Where did you come from and what brought you to Olympus?
I have been in the motion control industry for 17 years.  I was with Danaher Motion (Kollmorgen) for the past 10 years. I held a variety of positions starting from providing onsite technical engineering support in the Bay Area to my recent role leading the vertical markets North America sales team focused on Semiconductor, Packaging, and Lab Automation. I have known people at Olympus Controls for many years and knew it was an excellent organization. Coming to Olympus Controls gave me the opportunity to focus on local clients and have a greater impact than working for a large $14 Billion conglomerate company. I have been with Olympus Controls since April 2012.

What do you like best about working at Olympus?
The people, the innovation, and company culture that drives to provide customers with excellent experiences and creative solutions.

What was your first job ever?
Making pizzas at Straw Hat Pizza in Pleasanton CA when I was 15.  I got the job there because I love pizza and I lived close enough to it that I could ride my bike to work.

Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?
Working on home improvement projects, camping, road trips to explore new areas, boating, wine tasting – especially at my local Livermore wineries.

Has anything exciting or interesting ever happened to you?
The most exciting thing was my first child, Lienna Rayne, being born last April.  She just turned 1.

Have you traveled to any place exotic or interesting?
Costa Rica – Stayed in the Monteverde cloud forest on top of a volcano, spent a few days in the beach town of Tamarindo, and then went to a rain forest eco‐hotel that is only accessible by boat.

What is one thing you customers might find surprising about you?
That I am a native Californian.  I always get asked where I am from.  I grew up in Pleasanton and my father worked for the Lawrence Livermore Lab for 30+ years.
