Shane Miller

What is your job title, and what does that position entail?

I am a Buyer/Planner. This role is responsible for and manages purchasing, materials requirements planning and supplier relationship management.

How long have you worked at Olympus, where did you come from? A little history of how you got involved with Olympus?

I have been with Olympus since January 2018. Prior to working at Olympus I was the Buyer/Planner at Leviton. When I first started at Olympus I was a Production Technician. The position for the Buyer/Planner became available and with my past experience, I felt I would be a good fit for this role.

What do you like best about working at Olympus?

One of the best things I like about Olympus is that everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to our mission. This truly creates a family environment where everybody is there for each other. There is also a genuine spirit of cooperation and shared goals all revolving around helping the customer that I have not found at other companies.

Describe a little of your past history.

I have 7+ years in manufacturing, 3+ years in procurement, 4+ years as a technician.

Describe some of your hobbies – what do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time in Nature. Some of my favorite hobbies: Backpacking, Rock Climbing, Fishing, Dirt Bikes, Peak Bagging, Hot Springs, Photography, Snowboarding, Exploring.

What are some key lessons you have taken from your career thus far?

Believe in the power of failure. It’s the best way to learn. Just remember to learn from your mistakes, and not to repeat the same ones. Take the risk that takes you somewhere new.
